Cabo Blanco was the setting for a strange series of events on Thursday afternoon, in what appears to be an attempted kidnapping of a Nigerian who was released in the area when a group of residents accosted the kidnappers … who identified themselves as Police agents, but who then fired two shots into the air and fled.
It all happened around 2pm when Policía Local agents were helping a traffic accident victim and became aware of a vehicle driving around suspiciously with the boot open ... and three individuals beating up a fourth inside. After indicating clearly that the vehicle should stop, the car sped away with the police in full pursuit and calling over the radio for other patrols to help.
The kidnap victim ended up being dumped in Cabo Blanco with locals remonstrating at the treatment he was given from the individuals in the car who, at least to the witnesses, identified themselves as police … but with the real police in hot pursuit had to flee! The police have identified the individual on the floor with head injuries as the same one seen inside the vehicle being beaten up.
It all sounds like a Keystone Cops scene, but police say the attackers are still at large. It all happens in Cabo Blanco!
