San Andrés fiesta turns to tragedy as man dies in the street as fighting breaks out
A fiesta turned to tragedy in San Andrés when a 30-year-old resident of the area died after a fight broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning. There are San Andrés fiestas throughout Tenerife at the end of November, and of course, one of the main ones is in San Andrés itself. The little town's party was suspended, of course, in the wake of the events.
The man was found by Policía Local who had been advised of an individual lying on the ground in the area of Castillo de San Andrés. He had a very weak pulse, and subsequently died. The cause of death is still unclear. It is evident that the man was hit in the face, and had an eye injury, but no-one is conjecturing the actual cause of death at present. It is not even certain that he died as a result of the street fight. An autopsy is in progress.

What sad news.
But I think it's very rare for fights to break out at fiesta over here isn't it? I've never seen any problems at all during fiestas. Maybe it was a personal vendetta or something.

Yes, it's very unusual here, and the details of the fight are very scarce, and it's also not totally clear that the death was related to that anyway. Will keep it updated if there's any more news.

Re: San Andrés fiesta turns to tragedy as man dies in the street as fighting breaks out
It seems that three individuals are being sought for the death of the young man in San Andrés. The three are implicated in the earlier street fight where they seem to have beaten up another lad. From what is so far apparent, the victim tried to take the numberplate of their car to report them as attackers ... and then they turned on him.
The man had lived in San Andrés for six years with his partner, who was the daughter of a neighbourhood leader.

The first indications from the autopsy indicate that one particular blow to the eye in the savage beating the poor man received caused a brain haemorrhage, which was the actual cause of death. The National Police are still trying to identify the attackers for murder charges to be laid.
The funeral was held yesterday morning, and the whole town turned out for it.

A fourth man is now being sought by the National Police in connection with this killing, and a fifth is likely to be added to the list in the near future.
For the moment, the courts have declared judicial silence of the precise results of the autopsy.
