Blood donation sessions in Adeje Town Hall between today and Saturday

Adeje Ayuntamiento will be turned into a blood donor centre between today and Saturday. The sessions are being organized by Canarian Blood Donation Institute and the Dept of Health.

Anyone who would like to give blood should go to the Town Hall between 10am and 1pm, and 5-8pm. All will be welcomed in such a good cause.

Can you give blood if you have lived in the UK? Are there time limits?

I honestly don't know any more than what was in the press release, I'm afraid, and it's typical that they give as much information as they give notice.

I guess the only thing to do is to turn up and ask. I'd put money on them having someone there who can speak some English given that they are actively encouraging people to go, and they are fully aware of the large percentage of foreigners living in Adeje.

First time they've mentioned it in the press as far as I've seen anyway. Must have realized that not enough people knew about it the first two times!

Well if I give it a go, I'll report back here. I gave blood in the UK from age 18, so it doesn't bother me.

Somewhere I'd read that UK residents and former residents were banned because of CJD worries - hence the question earlier.

I'd like to donate if possible, as Tenerife has been kind to me, and a favour deserves a favour.

I know its an old post ...
The blood donor troop was outside the cultural centre in los cris today, so I asked:-
You cannot give blood in Spain if you were in the UK for more than a year between 1980 & 1996.
Its a CJD scare!!!
