Doubt it! I always understood that it signifies a change of higher air so it could equally mean that it's passing, I guess. The alert has now been extended to El Hierro which suggests it's gradually moving west. They are definitely not saying calima in the weather reports or alerts.

I can see a lot of yellowish dust coming over from the east. Visibility is getting worse..

It seems a lot clearer tonight, and a mite cooler ... but La Gomera has virtually disappeared. With El Hierro now on alert too, looks like it's passing westwards.

Well that post was three days ago, and it's been like an oven up in Vera, though cooler below 700m and quite a bit fresher on the coast.

But this evening the temperature went from about 34 to 24 in the space of about 10 minutes, and the humidity went from 24% to 65% in the same period. Now I think we can say that the heatwave has gone ... at last!

Should be rather nice tomorrow, I'd say

exactly, princess! i love the heat but when it gets TOO hot where you're uncomfortable both outside and in your house, there is no breeze etc. and it goes on for days and days and you can't even get a proper night's sleep because of the heat, then i am defeated, too!
