On the news last night, they had the weather section and were asking the weather-girl what the devil was going on. She said it was a "temporal", a "storm" of sorts, but that it had taken them completely unawares and that they'd had no notice of it at all.

It's been really weird the last few days, with what was clearly lots of electrical activity in the skies the night before last. Gran Canaria, too, was on full tropical storm alert yesterday, with one major electricity pylon down across the motorway outside Las Palmas, and main power cables flapping everywhere. The police were directing traffic on the motorway dodging the cables while the technicos were trying to get them under control!

Whatever is going on has also knocked my mobile internet connection on the head completely. We have "coverage", and can connect to the net, but no webpages will load at all. It's also warm up in Vera, with gale force winds, but not as hot as down on the coast.

Oh Janet ...... I wish we could have some real rain..... you know the sort. Absolutely tipping it down. I crave it! Isn't it wierd, in the UK I hated the rain, now I can't wait to get out in it!

I know! I feel exactly the same. I would love a good downpour, and was hoping for one the other evening, but nothing except weird lights in the sky and wind

Been walking over in the Santiago del Teide area today and had mostly clear skies and sunshine. Fairly windy in places though and a large amount of cloud sitting on the summit of Teide, which is very unusual. Back here in Chayofa it's quite nice with plenty of sunshine but occasionally gusty winds and cloud coming in off of the sea.

Sorry folks, don't understand this desire for rain at all!

It would just clear the air - its so stuffy, like being in a greenhouse.

Walking in this heat, I can barely lurch out from the air con car

Come on, a good 'ol fashioned (quick of course), downpour would be heavenly

Its been almost perfect in Los Cris today, 28 deg, gentle breeze and a fairly low humidity for September. (but we do pay high local charges here to get the good weather)
