Default Alert for strong winds and torrential rain from Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November for all the Canaries

The Canarian Government has put all the islands on alert from 9pm this evening for torrential rain, possibly 20 litres per square metre per hour, and winds reaching 85 kms an hour.

The public are advised to stay away from north and east coasts where swells of 3 to 4 metres are expected. Winds, however, will be worst in the south and west of the islands.

Particular alerts for Tenerife centre on Vilaflor and La Orotava.

The alert for strong winds is in place until midday on Sunday. The alert for heavy rain is at present only in place until 8am tomorrow morning.

Tell me about it. I'm actually inside the house. This is the first post I have ever made on this Forum from inside the house.

It was quite windy last night when we landed at TFS, we approached westerly because of the wind, and it was a bit bumpy, but I have experienced much worse.

It made me laugh when my other half said it was "cold" and that I should put my coat on. Cold! He hadn't just spent time in the freezing UK, it was great to get off the plane and feel a warm wind instead of an icy one

It was very windy last night around 4am, but today is no worse than breezy. They say it's worse on the coasts and on the peaks though. Can anyone on the north or east coast say what it's like? Pelinor? Sharon? Synch?

Welcome back, Caz
