After our round the World trip and Paul conquering(almost) his flying phobia we became the best customers of our Travel agent in Glasgow.
She rang me one day to say that she had just received a great offer in. 5 days Las Vegas, 5 days Los Angeles finishing off with a 4 day Royal Caribbean cruise to Mexico. All for £800 each. Paul was recovering from an operation on both feet and was off work but able to travel with crutches and a wheelchair so I booked it there and then.

They upgraded us all the way to give him more room so that was a bonus.
We flew from Heathrow to Chicago and were delayed 5 hours in Chicago because of ice storms. That meant we were strapped in and unable to leave our seats all the way from Chicago into Las Vegas. Quite scary actually as it was very bumpy.
We stayed at the Imperial Palace opposite Caesar's which was dated but perfectly adequate. We agreed our gambling limits at $100 a day each and kept that money separate. We tended to have a gambling spell on our way into and out of the hotel and didn't spend long periods doing it. We ended up about $2000 into profit at the end of our stay
The highlight was a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and a flight down the strip. All breathtaking. We summed Las Vegas up as Disney for Adults.
In LA we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Annaheim just down from Disney. Disney was great but not a patch on Florida. We spent a day shopping at a huge Mall just down the coast and another day on an orgainsed sightseeing tour of LA, Beverley Hills and Hollywood.
The cruise was a lovely ending to the holiday. We spent the first day in San Diego. The old town is amazing and like something out wild west movie set. The next day was spent in Ensanada in Mexico - more shopping as the stuff was such good value

The third day was at sea and we spent the last day on Catalina Island (so like Capri) before returning to Long Beach. As a bonus we went in the Ship Casino on the last night and I won $500 which cleared our onboard account with a little left over
I have no photos to post unfortunately as they got lost with our move here. The holiday was provided by United Airlines who offer some great tailor made packages.
