Default Digital TV & TDT

I want to buy a new TV for my home in Puerto.
Is TDT available in Puerto?
Are English channels available?
Is Digital available?

Thanks

I have now found out that TDT is available in Puerto and that some English chanels are available but not BBC and ITV. I also found out that intregrated Freeview TV bought in the UK are also programmed with TDT, therefore an English bought TV should work in Tenerife.

Default Tdt In English

I sell TDT systems to english people,a few points to take in account
1.NO ENGLISH CHANNELS - they have original audio,on mostly american programs, but life on mars and dr who are carried as well
so YOU GET PROGAMS IN ENGLISH (american) - NOT ENGLISH CHANNELS ....IMPORTANT POINT...
2. A FREEVIEW box from GB dont work properly here, your best bet to is buy a TDT
Box here.cheapest is VISANTA for only €19
3.TV s with TDT built in are ok to a point, but i have a lot of problems with the SECOND AUDIO ,as it seems the chip set used for TDT in the sets is common to a lot of makes of TV.The problem is if you select ENGLISH as prime audio you will not have problem with SONY or DISNEY as they are set up as ENGLISH,but the other channels use diffent names for second audio QAA,DOS,etc so it is not auto detected, and per channel storing dont happen as it should...
3 CHANNELS WITH ORIGINAL AUDIO (Mostly english)
TVE1
LA2
ANT3
CUATRO
CINCO
SEXTA
NOVA
NEOX
SONY
DISNEY
FDF

Default Re: Digital TV & TDT

It's an easy D.I.Y. job.
All you need is:

1 ) A TDT box from HiperTrebol, or a ferretria like Segura or perhaps Martinez
2 ) An ordinary TV aerial from similar vendor with enough cable to reach. Check out your Spanish neighbour's aerials for the type and orientation.
3 ) A SCART cable
4 ) Any TV with a SCART socket

Put the aerial up - pointing towards your nearest TV transmitter - just look where all the Spanish neighbour's aerials are pointing if in doubt

Connect aerial to TDT box; TDT box to TV (via SCART lead); switch all on, and tell the TDT box to search for new channels.

Bob's your father's brother!

Some of the TV is pretty dire, but it's good for getting an 'ear' for the Spanish language.
