Can anyone please tell me, is it standard practice for Endesa to charge between €9 & €11 per month although our apartment is empty? Thanks in anticipation.
Ken R:
yes, the standing charges are normal. they now vary depending on how many days have passed between the new and the last bill, as they don't always read them on the same day of the month.

Ken R:
Yes, it is the standing charge for the electricity metre, which depends on the power specified when installing it. This is independent of any electricity usage. Sometimes, a charge is made based on an estimated usage. This is corrected later when a real reading is made.

i don't think it is. at work i have loads of apartments where they overestimated by 40€ or so, even though the apartments have been empty for a long time. i find it bad that you're then still supposed to pay the standing charges every month when THEY owe YOU money!

Re: Endesa charges
Well, I have just had a refund from Endesa for 60 euros after a real meter reading showed they had overcharged me. How about that? But I agree that the standing charge is always payable.

I've been to the Endesa office countless times to ask for someone to come round and check my electrics, as my bills used to be abou 70 euros for 2 months. Then they suddenly jumped to around 140 euros for 2 months and now i'm getting charged over 90 euros a month!
Me and my husband are out at work all day, so are normally only in after 6.30pm. We cook at home once a day and do the laundry on Thursday or Friday when we're off. We don't leave anything on during the day, or on standby, so it's unexplainable.
I live in a 2 bed apartment, with 1 bathroom and my electric boiler is only 50 litres, which is used for a shower each a day. My neighbour pays half of what we pay for a 3 bed, 2 bath place and 4 people living in it.
Does anyone else pay this much? The office said that an engineer would come each time i've asked, but they never do, a standard letter comes through the post saying that according to their computer the bills seem correct! How does their computer know if someones tapping in to my electric.
The price of electricity has gone up a lot over the past 6-7 months. Twice to my knowledge. The last price rise was only two months ago. My bill has all but doubled as well. I used to pay about 40 euro every 2 months, now it's that much every month.
The price you pay depends on the rating you have on your house. When we moved into our present house it was contracted at 3000 something or other, we had to have it rewired and made a new contract at 5000 something or other. So now we pay less for our electricity.
I f there is an electrician on the forum they could probably explain it better
We have a bar, The Majestic, in Puerto de la cruz. We have been paying well over the odds for our electric over our first six months of opening.
We are owed in excess of 2,500 euros.
They will not reimburse the money. They will only discount us for the next 6 months until the money has been returned.

When Endesa overcharged us last year for an empty apartment and wrongly estimated meter readings, they repayed the 70 euros the next month without my having to ask.
Perhaps it's different with business premises.
