Default Easyjet donīt seem to be doing any flights to/from Gatwick after 2nd November 2008.

Just looked on the easyjet website - they donīt seem to be doing any flights to/from Gatwick after 2nd November. Only Manchester - Tenerife South bookable after that date - another blow for the island ??

That really surprises me as it was a popular route they took over from GB Airways - maybe Southerners donīt like the scramble for seats.

Thought we should have this as a thread on its own ... I do hope this isn't anything more than a winter scheduling issue. Could it be that??

I have just tried several other former GB Airways routes from Gatwick - Sharm el Sheik, Madeira, Gran Canaria and the last dates showing are between 28th October and 2nd November. Maybe they are selling off the aircraft

EDIT Have just gone on to www.flyertalk.com - a great site for comment on airlines/hotels etc

EZY is all about commonality where possible. The LGW 319 fleet can be mixed in about, so if there is a delay on one flight, you can swap another aircraft in or out as required. If you get a delay to a 321, you are stuffed as you need to find another aircraft of the same size.

You will find the dropping of the longer routes soon as well, at least I expect the Egypt routes to go.

I believe that the main reason that EZY want shot of the 321s is the length of time to turn them around. Too many passengers to get a 25 minute turn around. Their model requires getting lots of sectors out of the aircraft per day. The long routes and long turn around times lead to too many hours sat on the ground overnight.

Doesnīt sound good

Don't think they bought any aircraft - they bought the name & changed it and bought the flight slots. Maybe they have sold them on..

Yes, the aircraft were part of the deal, though those on lease would go back to wherever (think some to BA) See my edit above.

Just had a reply but do not know how to forward it over to this website, please can anyone tell me how?

They have more or less said that the new flight schedules should be out in August.
