Take a trip to the north to see some of the old Spanish towns there ... particularly Icod and La Orotava. They are super to wander around the old streets, and stop for a coffee in one of the cafes, or see the old dragon tree (in Icod) or the large old church (in La Orotava).

A different, old, real Spanish, world.

IMHO i think scuba diving is an absolute must

yes the island is very beautiful , i must agree .

but down there its a different world .

you think youre to old youre not .

when i first started diving 4 years ago ,

there was a lady doing a TRY DIVE , first time ,

she was 84 ............

after she said she wished she was 65 years younger

she just didnt realise what she had been missing .

ITS A MUST DO

there is so much diversity on this beautiful island, be it beach holiday, sporty holiday, fishing, diving or just plain site seeing. its beyond me that some peeps come here and park their arses in a bar morning , noon and night and go back home and say there was nothing to do.......... get a life !!

The Monkey Zoo Park. Thats definitely the biggest 'must do' on the whole island as far as I'm concerned.

More information here:

And a video near the bottom of this page:

Don't just stick to the English Restaurants or bars, try the Canarian ones. Some are much cheaper, the food is generally much better and the service is excellent. I would also recommend going for a trip up to see Teide if you haven't been, it is one of our favourite places and there is a wonderful new visitor centre up there with a fantastic lizard garden. Take a couple of bananas or tomatoes with you and they will actually feed out of your hand, they are so tame.

True. I've just PM'ed Bryn to see if he has a copy I can then host myself. Thanks for the heads-up!

I agree with the previous posts...but find after setting up my "Bolthole" and possibly future home during the past 12 months..I am exausted by the time I arrive in Tenerife (also running a business in the UK) to feel the need to go exploring the Island..which is a shame...I just feel the need to rest and relax..for me the breaks that I take come to an end too quickly..I look forward to the days when I can indulge in what has been mentioned in previous posts in this thread.
