Default Ryanair cancel bookings.

Raynair have just announced that they will be canceling all bookings for flights that have been made through any third party web site's.
They will now only allow bookings to be made via their own web site. Ryanair.com - Book your cheap flight, hotels, car rental with ryanair.com. This move has shocked the travel world.
Ryan air said that they will refund the agencies but it's up the them to refund the customers. They will be actually turning people away at the check out desks. This affects thousands of people.
Sorry mods I posted this news some where else then thought it to important so I gave it it's own thread.

Good grief I think it's important too! Quite right to have its own thread.

So is there really a danger that people will turn up to fly not realizing their flights have been cancelled?

I don't think I would risk flying Ryanair even if they were the cheapest.

Yes as far as I can see it's up to the booking agencies to contact the customers
If they don't and the customers turn up at check in then

I always thought you had to book directly with Ryanair anyway ... I read 0.5% of their bookings are made via 3rd party sites, which Ryanair claim are "illegal" - I suppose they stop Ryanair picking up the extras of car hire & hotel bookings which is where they make their profits (okay, so no profit this year)
see BBC report here

Easyjet were threatening something similar back in November - see article here

The Low Cost Airline model depends on selling add-ons to their passengers - and that starts at their own website .. you can now book an apartment or villa in Tenerife via the Ryanair site

My daughter has just booked a Ryanair flight to come over in September, I just emailed her to check that she booked on their site! I think she did, but fingers crossed!
