Can I recommend an alternative here ... I know a Canarian lawyer who specialises in business set ups, transfers and so on and also acts as a Gestor. She lives in the North, but most of her clients are in the South - bars, restaurants etc so she is in the South at least 2 days a week and comes out to you rather than you having to go to an office. She speaks good English and is on the other end of the phone even on Sundays if something urgent crops up - not many accountants/gestors you can say that about. pm me if you want an introduction.

One of the best and most reliable is Marcus or his brother Mateo Cabrera I've used them since 1984 and recommended them to many 1000's of clients over the years.

They're based in Los Cristianos near to the Post Office! All staff including Marcus and Mateo are fluent English speakers!

Probably the most important thing to learn when setting up a legitamat business is that the administrator of the company will be required to sign the accounts off when they are presented and thereby becomes personally liable for any misrepresentation or error in the accounts. It is not like in the UK where your accounts are audited and the accountatns have a duty/responsibilty for this. As such there is no recourse against the many people that set themselves up as "assesorias" to do taxes because they have seen how to download some of the forms necessary from the hacienda and then glibley claim they can do your tax returns (business and personal).

Hence our recommendation - he is a chartered accountant, and Spanish registered too and is dead easy to speak to and very helpful.
